Dear Friend: It was first grade. I was staring at the blackboard when I felt a finger poke my right shoulder. I turned slightly to the right to see a hand holding a scrunched up piece of paper which appeared to be a note. Somewhat interested, I cautiously reached around to take it, making sure not to draw any attention from my teacher. Keeping my head up, my hands swiftly unfolded the paper once, twice and then once more. I lowered my eyes to see the pencil writing on the torn edge of paper. And that’s when it happened. Right there as I sat in my first grade classroom.I had never felt it before until this moment. My heart began to pound so hard I thought everyone around me could hear it. I could hardly breathe. My body temperature sky-rocketed. I knew without question my face had turned bright red. I was hot, my whole body tingled. My hands began to tremble. I was flushed, and speechless, and ready to burst with excitement. What was happening to me? Was it love? No. It was even more than love . I knew I was in love. This was something even greater than my own feelings of love. It was the moment I’d been dreaming of. And finally it happened. |
